Privacy Policy

Last updated 6 July 2026

Riva City is a free-to-play browser game. This policy explains what information we collect when you create an account and play, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Account information. When you register we store your email address, your chosen username and display name, and — if you sign in with Google — the basic profile details Google shares with us (name, email, and avatar). If you set a password we store it only as a salted hash; we never store or see your plain-text password.

Gameplay information. We store the state of your character and everything you do in the game: progress, in-game currency, items, messages posted to in-game forums and chat, and activity logs used to run game systems and keep play fair.

Technical information. Like most websites we receive standard request data such as IP address and browser type. We use it for security, rate limiting, and abuse prevention.

How we use it

We use your information to operate the game: signing you in, saving your progress, running multiplayer features, and keeping the game fair and safe. We send transactional email only — sign-in links, password resets, and important account notices. We do not send marketing email without your consent.

We do not sell your personal information. We use a limited amount of technical data — such as the fact that you visited the site — to measure the performance of our own advertising, as described below.

Cookies and advertising

We use cookies to keep you signed in and to protect your session. We also run advertising campaigns on Reddit and use the Reddit Pixel, a tracking technology provided by Reddit, Inc., on our site. It lets us see when someone who clicked one of our Reddit ads later visits Riva City, so we can measure how well our ads are working. The Reddit Pixel may set cookies and share technical information (such as your browser and the pages you visit) with Reddit; it does not receive your account credentials or in-game data. See Reddit's own privacy policy for how they handle this data.

Who we share data with

We use a small number of service providers to run Riva City — cloud hosting, a managed database, an email delivery service for transactional messages, and Reddit for advertising measurement as described above. These providers process data only on our behalf and only to provide their service to us.

Your username, display name, avatar, and in-game activity (such as leaderboard positions and forum posts) are visible to other players. Your email address is never shown to other players.

Retention and deletion

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data at any time by emailing support@riva.city from the address on the account. We may retain minimal records where required for security or legal reasons.

Your rights

You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact us at support@riva.city and we will respond as soon as we can.

Age requirement

Riva City is a crime-fiction game intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to create an account.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy we will update this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in-game notice.
